The Select Group Helps Raise Funds During Paint It Pink Gala

October 10, 2011

RALEIGH, N.C. - Oct. 10, 2011 - The Select Group, a full-service recruiting firm specializing in the placement of technology, engineering and executive-level positions, participated in the inaugural Paint It Pink Gala, held Oct. 6 in downtown Raleigh.

The event featured a raffle and silent auction, which included an item donated by Sheldon Wolitski, The Select Group's founder and CEO. Wolitski donated a free weekend at his Topsail Island beach house and paid for all employees' admission to the event.

"The folks here at The Select Group are all very active in the community, with programs such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, UNC Children's Hospital and Paint It Pink," says senior account manager Bob Ferguson, whose wife, Jamie, served as executive chair of the Paint It Pink gala. "This event in particular is helping to raise breast cancer awareness significantly for the entire Triangle."

The event was created to honor Kim Sibbach, who was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer in August 2008 when she was just 23 years old. Sibbach lost her battle in April 2011.

"While she might be gone, she is not forgotten as we come together to continue the fight to find a cure for breast cancer," Jamie Ferguson says.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to 1in9, a breast cancer nonprofit that works closely with the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center to help women who currently are in treatment but lack the means necessary to continue it.

"If there was one thing that Kim was always in awe of, it was the amount of support that she had from her loved ones," Ferguson adds. "We want to pass that on to others."
